A couple a years ago one of my boys caught a little catfish at the beach at Kinkaid. He caught it in his little plastic bucket and it was about 1 1/2 inches long. We have been feeding it regular fish food and now its about 6 inches long. I tried to look up info on lineabout how big it will get but I couldn't find the info I needed. Some people say it will stop growing once it reaches a certain size if we keep it in a small tank. Others I talk to say we will have to get a bigger tank. I was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience keeping one as a pet.

they grow slowly in a fishtank, especially if its small. Same as a goldfish or perch we used to take them out every summer an put them in the water tank for the cows.....bout 1000 gallons, and MAN DID THEY GROW. Either way they will grow just the bigger the tank the bigger they get, they grow to fit the environment.

i had a blue gill in my tank before it was just a little thing bout half an inch long and it grew about 3 inches long if not 4 and stoped growing we had him in like a 20 gal tank so i will agree with the other people the bigger the tank the bigger the fish

i also agree on small tank small fish. my cousin had 2 catfish in a small tank and they were always the same size, then he got a tank twice as big and the fish almost doubled their size in 2 weeks.
