has any one ever shot a 50. cal rifle im thinking of buying one and i just wonder if i should im just waznting a second opinion from someone i tink it would be pretty neat to shoot one i dont know what at but im thinking maybe coyote or snow geese haha maybe even rabbits lol il probibly go big game hunting with it i also read Field and stream that people were killing deer with them i might try that as well hit me back with some opinions thanks :cool:

Most muzzleloaders are .45 or .50 cal. If your talking military .50 you are gonna spend some serious dough for one. Heck I think it costs about $10 a round to shoot, and most owners are reloaders.

Back in PA there was group of guys that hunted with them. They'd set up on an open ridge edge, and glass across the valley to the next mountain. They would shoot a bedded deer. We did drives under their shot trajectory. You'd hear BOOM----FFfffft---thud way up there. Sometimes it would take em 2 or 3 shots to get the windage right. The deer didn't even know they were geting shot at.

If your wanting to shoot a real 50 cal I know where you can do it for free, just sign a short 4/4 year contract and shoot all you want, single or auto take your pick.

i use to deer hunt with a .50 cal muzzy made from thompson. it was great rifle pretty accurate up to 175 yards, better make the first shot count though. i would love to shoot some of them millitary issue 50's but too rich for my blood. hey bob i bet that was quite a experience having them guys shooting over top of ya. that would have been awesome to do.

I watched a show on those new shoulder fired semi auto .50's. I would love to send some down range w/ that. They had a little girl soldier firing one, and it wasn't whacking her around so much. They designed a new muzzle break for em I guess.

Not only will thay kill a guy a half mile (or more) away, they will blow body chunks clean off. A head shot means the guy better have some tattoos for ID, cause there ain't gonna be facial recognition or dental records.
