Date: Sunday, February 25, 2007
Location: Lake of Egypt
Lake Temp: 40 (South End) 48 (North End)
Bass: not many
Wind: 5-25+ mph S - SSW
Air Temp: 44 deg.
Barometer: 30.14
Conds: Cloudy
Arrival: 6:45 am
Depart: 4:00 pm

Upon arrival, the morning was cold and cloudy with light to moderate winds.
My partner and I took off and started fishing one of the Islands in the ski area. We concentrated on this
area for about 11/2 - 2 hours. We worked the area thoughly with jerkbaits, rattle traps ,and crankbaits.
Abandoning this area we ran up to the Elks lot to try to break the ice and put a keeper fish in the livewell.
It was now about 9:00 am and the winds had really picked up. We fished the hole area and hooked only
1 keeper fish on a shakey head. The water temp. had fell dramatically from the cold rain on the previous
day.
I fired up the motor and headed to the mid lake area. It was now about 10 am. I decided to stick with the
shakey head and work secondary points and main points.
Finally a BITE, I set the hook and i felt the fish doing the head shake, it was a good one, but it managed
to pull off.
Discouraged, I moved to the next point, on about the second cast I got another bite, again it pulled off.
I rounded the corner and told my partner there should be a fish sitting there, I casted, made one pull, and
the fish thumped my bait. I set the hook and we landed the 17 incher. (Shakey Head)
From here we ran back into the Dry Fork ,working the area with crankbaits, not having any luck we
ran back to the the mid lake, fishing rip rap points with jerk baits and shakey heads, the problem was the
wind, you couldn't work your baits properly in the high gust of 25-30mph.
We went back to the main lake and continued searching for a wad of bass. Every where we went we just
couldn't get a bite. We fished points , secondery points , pockets and creeks. I only landed 1 more fish
before the day ended.
Even guides have bad days.
Still the lures of choice are a shakey head, jig , jerk bait and crankbait, colors are crawfish,
watermelon,and american shad.
SnS fishing reports should become more frequent, between touranaments and clients we are vey busy, so
