Took advantage of the first cold front of the year down here in South Florida to play hookie and do a quick bird hunt before heading into work. A chilly 48 degrees this morning, though it warmed up to 68 by noon. Ended up bagging 3 hard-earned birds from two different coveys. The birds like the thick cover (see the tall palmettos) and it's frustrating gettin in there to flush them cuz you hear wings, but can't see em till they're 30 yds out sometimes. At least my new pup got to play with one. Do you like the window sticker?

It just seems so odd to think about hunting quail in palmettos! and of course we like the sticker! :)
Good looking pup by the way... :)

How old is the pup, it looks like it has a big smile in that 2nd pic while standing over the birds it got.
A chilly 48 LOL... hasn't been that warm even here in SILO for a week.

The roan pup is 6 months, the white ticked is 1 year. The other white ticked one you don't see, hiding in the box is 10 years old and he found them all. The pups are still trying to figure out the game, and I have been delinquent on gettin their training started...

I love quail hunting, just haven't done it in a really long time.
Training the young'uns can be fun. I was hunting with a coworker back in OK using his dogs. The young pup started 'honoring' one of the older dog's point...only he was 'pointing' with his back leg. ;)
