I like the Peppermint coffee Millstone has out for the holidays but can't always find it, and when I do it's over $6 per bag. I've found a suitable substitute. Add 1 drop peppermint oil (more if you want more peppermint flavor, but not much as this is very strong stuff) to your grounds before brewing a pot of coffee. You can use about 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract instead. It's easier to find and cheaper than the oil.

Another favorite in our house is to sprinkle some cinnamon and/or 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract on your grounds. I think the peppermint oil and the vanilla extract would taste together too.

Life,
Thanks for that wonderful advice!!! I am quite the coffee affacianado and have gotteb really spiled..some friends run a gourmet organic shop in WI (same folks with the chocolate co ) and they roast their own..refuse to keep them on the shelf for sale longer than three days..so we get lots of free beans that are free trade, organic, and super super yummy...I just about croak when I go to buy coffe or beans in the grocery store..yeee gads.. I do have to say though, the Beaumont small bags at Aldi's here are every bit as good in fact even better quality than the name brands, and much less expensive...add your spices and there you go!

my niece has "discovered" a way to make a hot drink tha is bearable when you are a coffee person in dire circumstances..she says, a packet of instant cocoa mixed with the coffee isn't so bad..even if the coffee is instant...LOL

There used to be in FVH, but it became a Donut House, then closed and it's now a title loan shark place. The folks running it were trying to sell donuts after they'd gotten stale so people quit going there. Before they let it run downhill though, it was a great place to get coffee as well as donuts.

Yes! Whenever I was down in west palm, i used to stay a few days for fishing, (buddy lived there) any way the spot I had to park the tractor this old fella and his wife ran a little stand that they made it, a cup looked like one of the little ones fro mouth wash..lol, the used to fill a Thermos for me when I was leaving! LOL! about every 300 miles or so you could just take a big gulp and wait for your hair to start running around on your head!! LOL! you know that I am sure..... then I would run out and well...... be "jones'n" for another ride to WP LMAO! also gave them some of the nice fish we would catch and his wife was always so happy for them, she would never take a dime for the thermos, and parking, I would hand her a $50 every month I stopped in just for a place to park, 4 years and never had one problem with some of the trash in the area of WPB...... You still have yer coffee cup that looks like it was made for a doll House...LOL, but thats about all ya wanted a a time.

Here are instructions for making your Cuban coffee Gretchen.

I filled a 20 oz travel cup from the espresso machine before going to work one night. Half-way through the shift my hands were getting the shakes. I drink my coffee a lot stronger than I was used to back then. Those presses make some great coffee.

They had a nice big Dunkin Donuts in Itaewon just a few short blocks from Yongsan. There weren't many places in Korea other than on the military bases or in expensive restaurants and Dunkin Donuts where you could get real coffee that wasn't made from instant powder. No free refills either. :(
