Directions for this must be followed to the tee. If any substitutions are made in ingr. or cooking tools are made it wont be the same. First you need a well seasoned cast iron skillet. Then you need about 10-15 Red potatos ( MUST be Red ones). Crisco not veg oil must be used. And one med size yellow onion. The fancy videllia won't work. Also you will need garlic salt not garlic power. Peel the red taters and slice them about 1/8 inch thick. Slice up the onions and add to the tater mix now sprinkle with salt pepper and garlic salt. Now comes one of the most importain steps . About an hour before you start prepin you need to find some nise seasoned oak and build a fire and let it burn down about 2/3 the way down where its just making nice coals. Stick them over the fire and let them cook till you have about half brown and crispy. The rest doesn't have to be brown and crispy just be sure they are soft. I have eatin a variation on this recipes in which scambled eggs are added to the tators and they both fry together. After about 15 min. cookin the whole campground will be stoppin by to find out what that wonderful garlic smell is....
