I entered some photos at the Illinois Deer Classic in Bloomington this weekend, did pretty good, received three 1st place, one 2nd place and one honorable mention. Here's the photos that won in this order;

those were all taken with an Olympus D-545, 4 mp, had a great macro. I think I paid $145 for it about 2 years ago, but broke the lcd screen riding on a 4-wheeler with camera in my back pocket, so I went out and bought a Panasonic DMC-TZ1, 10x optical zoom, 5 mp, pretty good cam, compact enuf to fit in my pocket.

I took these in '05 & '06 and one in Ontario from my stand while BEAR hunting, so I don't think they qualify for SIO contest, was just showing them.

Did you score a bear? It's funny mentioning bear to IL folks. They get all excited/shocked when you tell them you grew up around bear, and they really pose no threat. The kill a few thousand back in PA every year. Griz are different, I always give them a wide bearth, and make plenty of noise in tight cover. Black bear will run, griz aren't afraid of anything. They don't need to be I suppose.

Killed a nice black bear in '05 and a cool chocolate phase with a blond stripe down its back in '06, the first three photos are from '05, last three are from '06.
