They are FULL of history and (when I was young a great place to (catch-a-buzz))Its where Illinois begun.... FunGusAmonGus 02-26-2007, 20:31 Heres some pics of the park at Fort Kaskaskia S. P. My mothers family owned the farm where the state park is today. In the pics you can see where the Kaskaskia emptys into the Mississippi. We grew up calling it by its old name Fort Gage. The birds in the pic are pelicans, about 300 of them came flyin up the river and landed on the water in the bend. The river must churn up fish here and the must have been feeding. This is a great place to see eagles. This is one of my favorite places to camp. We would setup and watch the sunset have a "few" beers. The have electric hookups which is a plus.http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/fabfive2001/Picture280.jpg[/IM[IMG]http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/fabfive2001/Picture275.jpgG]http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/fabfive2001/Picture258.jpghttp://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/fabfive2001/Picture255.jpg FunGusAmonGus 02-26-2007, 20:39 http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/fabfive2001/Picture280.jpg and http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t309/fabfive2001/Picture264.jpg Quackaddict59 02-26-2007, 20:47 awesome pics and i actually learned something lol Bob 02-27-2007, 07:08 That cut where the pelicans are headed looks like a great duck hole. FunGusAmonGus 02-27-2007, 07:19 That was part of the old Kaskaskia river . Its hard to get to unless the rivers up. And when the river gets up theres a current in there. FunGusAmonGus 03-04-2007, 22:47 Fox 2 has the pelicans on the ads now . I guess the finally made it up river.......... |
