on state ground wat is the shot you can use on squrriel lead or steel or both man i cant find it anywhere

Lead shot is A-okay according to Pete @ Washington County Conservation Area in Nashville. He also added that most sites allow lead for pheasants and doves since you are not hunting over/around water for the most part. The dove part kind of threw me as I thought steel was the norm for them. I think that one may be site specific but squirrels are good for lead all over.

Every phesant hunting place I have been to has been very particulay to make sure that you know that you can not use lead. They have a list of certain sizes you can and cannt use as far as bismuth and tungsten.

I see that there are some odd sizes of non toxic allowed but except for one state pheasant hunting area (Chain of Lakes) I thought you could use smaller than 5 lead or those non toxic choices, ie:

7. All hunting must be done with shotguns or bow and arrow. Only shot shells with a shot size of No. 5 lead or a non-toxic shot size ballistically equivalent to No. 5 lead or smaller may be used. Note: At Chain O'Lakes State Park only nontoxic shot approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service may be possessed and only shot shells with a shot size ballistically equivalent to No. 5 lead or smaller may be used or in possession. Flu flu arrows only may be used or in possession by bow and arrow hunters.



Nontoxic shot sizes ballistically equivalent to No. 5 lead include the following:



No. 3 steel or tin

No. 4 bismuth

No. 5 tungsten-iron, tungsten-polymer, tungsten-matrix

No. 6 heavi-shot

I do see that others like Carlyle that don't use that T. Miller company to do the booking require non tox like you said Full. Best to call ahead for wherever yer hunting and make sure. It would be nice if they were all the same to avoid the confusion.
