Unfortunately I believe we made out last trip to the blind at the northend of the city lake this morning. The water levels are to difficult to navigate to our blind. It is the worst I have seen in 30 plus year hunting there. Will spend my time in the timber looking for buck henry with bow and gun (not at the same time:rolleyes:). A little precipitation expected next week but it won't make up for the 3 feet deficit. Have to wait for the south zone to hunt ducks or make a trip or two to acouple of friends in So. Wisconsin to hunt the dark geese...

It's easy to see where the water line should be and where it is. It's gonna take a lot of rain and/or snow to make that up.
DH669 we did alright, starting with early teal then the central opened and got some mallards and seven geese early. But we usually do better (as everyone) when the weather changes.
PS Going to stop by a local liquor store in Herrin next week enroute to Union County for our annual gun season. We stop in this liquor store a block east of the main drag and north of the hospital to stock up on one of our favorite wines. We buy Fortissimo there in the gallon jug, it is a deep hearty red wine, we can't get it anywhere else, so we get some for the trip and to bring back home. My best buddy is a dego and he got me hooked on it...

What part of Louisiana? I was stationed at Barksdale (across the Red River from Shreveport) for 2 years, plus I did a little fishing and camping around the state. Do you suck the heads on your mud bugs?

I have to wonder..how long will it take for our lakes to recover..I can't imagine they'll even be recovered by spring, unless this is a mighty wet and snowy winter...
The last two years have been very stressful for the lakes and the plants/trees. It is going to take a while.

let's just hope that things do recover...it truthfully makes me a little nervous about the state of things...I hate to lose anymore of the rare and endangered plants..but I fear we may have ..at least in this area...
ISP when I was a kid I hunted city lake often with my father. After he passed away I have not hunted there much but I remember it has always been low on that north end and I cant imagine how bad it is now. We used to have a blind a long time ago on the north end and we walked in isnt that an option for you guys. You better watch those names that you are calling Freddy he might not like that.
