Gateway Center will host event Feb. 16-18
From staff and wire reports
The ninth annual St. Louis Deer Classic has been moved to the remodeled Gateway Center in Collinsville for the first time.
The event, which will be held Feb. 16-18, will have more seminars, booths and family activities than in previous years when the event was held in Wentzville, Mo., according to organizers.
"We can offer people more to see and do than ever before," said Hugh Price, show manager.
There will be a large number of hunting outfitters from Canada, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and a variety of hunting gear on display.
DockDogs, a national organization that conducts sports events for dogs and their owners, will-feature a regional competition at the event, complete with dogs leaping for distance into a pool of water. DockDogs has appeared on the David Letterman show and CNN.
Joella Bates, a five-time archery world champion, will-be at the show to work with children and give lessons using three-dimensional targets. Professional bow hunter Mike Weaver is one of the featured speakers and will give several seminars.
-Tickets at the door are $6 for adults and youth on Friday, free for children 11 years old and under. On Saturday and Sunday, tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for youth (12-16) and $3 for children 6-11. Children 5-years-old and under are free.
A family pass can be purchased for $20.
