I have a question for you guys that fish Peabody. I want to go try for some sauger since Peabody is a lot closer than Carlyle (and Carlyle water level is really high now). Someone mentioned that the big lake is Beaver lake. Since there is a 10hp limit and the boat ramp is pretty far from the main part of the lake it would seem that the best way to fish it would either be from shore or to put in a canoe. I am assuming that the lake is pretty deep. Is it really steep sided or do the points extend out into the water? I have only been to Peabody once years ago and I only fished some of the smaller pits.

I have been fishing peabody for a very long time. Beaver lake is the big lake and it is indeed steep sided, but there are many points that extend out into the lake. I have never really tried to fish for sauger out of there. I hear you can catch them the same way you would catch walleye. Beaver lake is a huge body of water. And there is tons of structure. Anything from sticks to just sheer drop offs. The lake is very deep... good luck for the sauger. I would recomend taking an actual boat though because the wind can really stir that lake up.

Does anybody know if any have actually been caught outta there? I've fished it, but never caught any sauger, or whites for that matter. I would think to try for them electronics would be a big help in locating them.

Just like they say Eagle has pike, I don't know of any actually getting caught?

I have taken my canoe all over Beaver, but I use a trolling motor on it. I wouldn't want to have paddle the whole length of Beaver, especially into the wind.

With the weather the way it is, a lot of the water out there will be locked up anyway.

Well willow holds some big bluegill and crappie. But you have to be stealthy to catch them. Slow movements, chances are they will see you before you see them.

Willow is good, but hard to bank fish. I think most of the lakes in the East Sub-unit are the best for bank fishing.

Ive Fished The Back Lake With A Boat. In The Ne Corner Of The Lake There Is Stumps On Both Sides Of A Channel. Ive Caught Many Good Crappie In Them. Lost Many Big Fish Which Have Taken My Minnow And Broke My Line Right Off. Many Decent Bass Have Been Caught Back There On Worms And Spinnerbaits, Work Em Slow. Ill See Ya Out There In A Couple Months, We'll Catch Em All.
