I HAVE BEEN EXPERIMENTING WITH THE PRESETS ON MY POINT & SHOOT CAMERA, ESPECIALLY THE LONG EXPOSURES FOR NIGHT TIME PHOTOGRAPHY,
GRETCHEN SAID SOMETHING TO ME ABOUT USING A FILTER TO KNOCK THE LIGHT THAT GETS THRU THE LENS, THIS GOT ME THINKING THAT THE WATER MOTION BLUR PICS JUST MIGHT GET BETTER THE DARKER IT GETS, SO i HEADED TO A DAM ON THE FOX RIVER TONIGHT AS IT WAS GETTING DARK TO DO A LITTLE EXPERIMENT. THE DARKER IT GOT, THE BETTER THE WATER BLUR LOOKED, THESE TWO PHOTOS, THE LAST OF ABOUT 125 I TOOK OVER A 45 MINUTE PERIOD WERE THE LAST PICS I TOOK AND HAD CAM SET ON 60 SECOND EXPOSURE! IT WAS 6:55 WHEN I TOOK THESE LAST TWO, SO IT WAS GETTIN PRETTY DARK, SO DARK I COULDN'T SEE THE HERON ON THE DAM, NOT TIL I DOWNLOADED THESE PICS.

OTHER SETTINGS, ISO 80, WHITE BALANCE CLOUDY, F2.8, 60 SECOND EXPOSURE

Very, very nice job! You achieved a silky perfection - I'm envious!

What kind of filter did you use? A ND filter or ND graduated filter can be handy for getting longer exposure times when the light is still bright by knocking down the amount of light that enters the lens- I just ordered one for my camera!

I didnt use a filter it was dark out, 6:55pm, what kind of camera do you have that accepts filters, I dont think mine has anyway to mount them.

I've got a Canon S3 IS, but I got an adapter tube that you can add onto the front and it can take 55mm filters.

Those pics are awesome, keep getting drawn back to them. That first one almost looks like some sort of stationary time-lapse from fall to winter. Fully leaved trees on the right in warm lighting to an icy transitional look with bared trees to the left in a cooler lighting.

Both of those pics are great. I couldn't find a slow exposure setting for my P&S. I better find the manual.

Nice Job Huntrz....I would have thought that you would have needed a filter to to accomplish that......
I can buy a mount on piece for my point and shoot to add stuff to it........You might wanna check on that........
