I carry a bottle of spray that is a "wound and hotspot: spray and aslo doubles as a foot pad conditioner. I got this stuff at Rural King but most any feed store has it. My Brittany "Rocket" has had some problems the last two hunting seasons with his feet getting injured and I have sprayed them with this stuff for a few days and I place him on the DL list then he's good to go. The stuff is actually called "wound and hotspot spray" and I cannot remember who it is made by but when I run out to the garage later I'll see.

I did not find my bottle in the garage, it must be ion the dog box out at my dads place. JC I have oredered stuff from this company and they are reputable:
This stuff may help:

This is about the same stuff I use but in aeresol:

Never tried a brush on formual but it may have better results than a spray bottle considering my dog looks at me with much disgust after spraying his feet:

The stuff I use is a pump spray bottle and like I said my dog hates the stuff, but it works well. I got mine at Rural King for a bit cheaper I think than what the aeresol bottle from Lion Country is but like I said most any feed store will probably have something similar. I hope this helps, let me know what you end up doing.

thanks for the tips. i have not been able to get to rural king yet but his foot is healing pretty good. he doesn't act like it is hurting much anymore so i'll give a couple more days and see if it heals. i am definately going to get some of that spray and carry in my bag. thanks again

You might also think about putting boots on him if you're on rough mean stuff or if he has problems often. Deno taught me how to make them out of duct tape, I'll have him show me again before I go to Kansas in November.

JC I might get slammed for this but what about super glue I have used it on small cuts my dad is a meat cutter he uses it on a regular basis . He claims it was invented in nam..IDK but it does work.

Good old bag balm and purple medicine..I swear it will fix anythng...I've also used that stuff that birdhunter was talking about and it works really great too..
I rub the mutts feet with the bag balm..that way they are accustomed to having their feet handled and don't get testy when it's nail trimming time..

Believe it or not - but when I was doing home health we had doc that ordered that for a couple of patients who had trouble with craking open hands and feet..sooo:rolleyes:

Gretchen by the time you can wash that stuff off your hands the cut is pretty much healed . I split my mellon once and I swear they used that stuff on me at the er pushed it together glued and taped it two weeks later good as new.

The difference between Nu-Skin and superglue is Nu-Skin has an antiseptic. When Mrs Life and I bowled in a league I carried that stuff with me all the time.

I don't know about for foot pads, but for all other injuries we used to use petro carb salve. Our vet carries the McNess brand. It's good for people's cuts and stuff too.

I have used the superglue on my dogs too, I had forgot about that one.
