Just got back from my trip to Canada and have a seven pound smallie to prove it was worth the money. I was wondering if someone could help me out with a good taxidermist with fish. With it being a smallmouth bass Im kinda worried about getting it mounted in this area because I wouldnt think they would have much experience with smallmouth. Thanks for your help.

We have a taxidermist that sponsors this site, you might try with him:

Huntemall, I was up at Novacich's Meat Market a while back and they had some (I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing) fine bass mounts there. Ya might ring up Pete the owner and ask who did his work. 618) 344-1975

Combs is doing my wife's 30+ inch catfish. I saw a bunch of his work and it all looks good. His prices are reasonable, and like Birdhunter pointed out, he is one of the lunker sponsors for this site.

I ended up taking it to Smith Taxidermy in Marissa. Ill try to get my pics up soon. I've got my smallie, my buck from this year, drake canvasback, two pork chop crappie, and a goldeneye thats just to pretty not to mount. At this rate I'll have to take a second mortgage out to pay for them all:D:D

Where abouts in canada did you go if you don't mind me asking, my dad and I were thinking about taking a trip up there this spring but we're alittle overwhelmed by the massive choices of lakes, lodges, and guides. Sounds like a smallie of a lifetime btw! Congrats!

We go to Lake of the Woods every year, its about twelve hundred miles one way to Nestor Falls. We stay at Helliars Resort my family has stayed there since the late seventies, they are first class people. Check them out at Helliars.com if your interested. Fishing in June is usually great the smallmouth move up to spawn and the walleye, pike and muskie can all be found casting the shallows. June is still spring up there and it has snowed on us. Late August is also a good time to go. The crappie move in to their dock and you can catch your limit before you even get in the boat. Fish are usually deeper but this is the best time to catch a trophy muskie. If you need more info send me a pm and I'll help as much as I can. They tend to book up quick so dont wait to long.
