He said it stunk up the whole house and they had a hard time getting it down. whosur 02-02-2012, 13:50 My grandparents never recovered from the depression and would eat anything my grandfather was able to bring home. I only had it in a stew. Don't recall much about it. Brian B. 02-02-2012, 21:37 Must not have been too awful bad or you would remember- (they stew anywhooo)-- my father in law tells me of his younger years cleaning a rat to eat- (he has always fancied himself a survivalist- as long as Sandy is there to take care of him, LMAO!!)--- his dad came up on the scene as looked all disgusted at him explaining why you don't eat rats... You have to hear him tell the tale- Shannon County, Missouri folks.. heavy5256 02-02-2012, 21:50 I had an old timer from Kentucky that lived next door to me. He asked If I would go out in the spring and get him a young ground hog for him. He was not able to get out and hunt because of his age. He said he missed not being able to get one. So I started doing this for him. This went on for over 10 years. In return I got to eat groud hog.He always roasted it like a pot roast. I thought it was very good. Have'nt had any sense the old timer pass. I recommend if you get the opprotunity to try it, go for it. brianl 02-10-2012, 12:09 the young ones are pretty good, but the big males are a different story |
