I was just thinking since duck hunting for us in the central zone is a few weeks away some of the sayings old and new concerning myths, either true or not.

1. Full moon last night the ducks won't move today, they were flying all night.

2. Ducks won't fly today in this strong south wind.

3. Don't stop calling they will think something is wrong.

4.Wish we were hunting a cornfield instead of a bean field.

5.Geese won't work to duck decoys.

6.Got to have a hole in the decoy spread for the ducks to work.

7.Those 3.5 inch loads will reach 50 yards.

8.Should of been here yesterday, we had a bunch of new ducks.

9. Ducks won't land on the ice.

10. Need 500 decoys to work snows and blues.

Just a few of the things I have heard, thought you might have a few more. They all have their pro/cons.:cool:

I've seen all of those things appear to be true, and all of them a flop. I just come to terms with the fact a duck is going to do what a duck wants to do, sometimes I could persuade it sometimesI couldn't.

#8 works for just about anything. Like the time we got into bunches of bigheads on the Mississippi. We posted it on HuntingNet (along with pictures). Our buddies drove clear over from Danville to get into them. They never even saw one. ugh! That's why they call it fishin' and not catchin'. LOL
