We tried taking the pontoon out on Rend Lake today. There was a fairly strong wind out of the north. As we pulled out of the resort harbor we knew we were in for a ride. We started heading south a little faster than the waves. I suddenly realized we were heading for a ery large wave and the nose of our pontoon went down into the trought. Before I could do anything to avoid it, we had a wall of water hit us. We were amidship on a 22' boat and were drenched.
I'm glad we were on a pontoon because the flat deck meant no bailing. I turned the boat around and had the boat planing across the waves back to the harbor.
Dude glad you were not hurt, bet it was a cold ride back to the harbor.

Fishkiller got soaked. I was behind the console but still got a face full of brown water. Yes it was a cold ride back to harbor. At least the water flowed back off, but we had to find where it had pushed things and hang a lot of stuff out to dry.

Thanks HarryD and Carpsniper. It was scary watching that wall of water come at us. After it hit all we could do was laugh, and get the boat back in to safe harbor. It was kinda like those water park rides except the water was brown instead of clean.
Fishkiller had taken off her shoes and the water had washed them to the back gate. The underseat storage and all other storage areas had water in them. Now that we're home we're going to open the boat up and let everything continue to dry.
Are you sure you want to keep going to that lake? :o
That one time I met up with you and Fishkiller down there, you had a gash across your forehead and blood all over you! :(
IMO, I might try to find another lake that isn't so rough on you.... ;) :p

The only injuries this time were cuts and scratches from crappie fins while taking them off the hooks. We just had a fun adventure this time. :D

Thanks geese4ever. That's a lovely area. It's even easy to get used to the smell of oil wells. Yes, Rend can get really rough. We've been on it many times when there were white caps, but this time was the roughest.
