Does anyone know what the site hours are at the strip mines (Peabody) in New Athens? Thanks!

First 5 days of dove hunting are noon to 5pm after that state wide rules. park closes @ 9pm

Don't waist your time. Birds are not flying....ie not there...

I drove through yesterday and checked the #'s before non. Not looking good. That place has really fallen off for doves the last few years. Not that they don't try, but low #'s, expensive steel shot, = some pricey morsels...

Thanks for the responses. I took my son yesterday morning. But we were squirrel hunting, not dove hunting. It was really windy and we didn't see anything. Plus it didn't help getting turned around and wondering if I was going to find the truck or not...... It was our first time hunting there. Didn't seem like there were very many nut trees.

That's when it's good to carry a compass and remember which end you parked at.

Or make sure your GPS has charged batteries......... lol I made it a learning lesson for my 11 year old son! It all turned out good and now we will both remember to check the batteries next time. It was still good to be out in the woods.
