I have two that I definetly will go on, one of which is planned the other will be put together later. In 6 weeks (weekend before the 1st shotgun deer season) I'll be in SW Kansas chasing them big colorful pheasants and quail for about 5 days. The other trip is to NW Illinois to hunt late seasonpheasants at a buddies place near Aldeo, IL. If it pans out I may do some quail hunting in a few places in SE Misery but that may or may not happen.

Might make a trout trip to the White River in Arkansas with Jdawg and my wifes uncle.

Sometime this month my wife and I will go to Bennett Springs State Park in Misery too!

Had plans to hunt south central Nebraska opening weekend. But the pheasant count is below last year but the birds were few and far between then. So I do not know if we will make the trip this year unless gas takes a drop.

Yankee the good thing is Missouri is $.20-$.25 lower than Illinois and if i remember correctly from a few weeks ago in Nebraska it was only a few cents higher than Misery, so already it is lower than what you're used to.

We were going to visit a friend in Montana and did the Badlands/Mt. Rushmore/Black Hils/Crazy Horse thing while in SD. We were there for 4 days, then went to Montana.
I did not hunt at all but I did do some trout fishing!
Bob it is funny you mention the Kansas hunt, I was there last year for the pheasant opener and this year we are going out the 2nd week so we can shoot quail too. We stayed and are staying this year in Meade about 50-60 miles from Dodge City. So far there are 3 of us going.

I've done all that touron stuff in SD too... It's pretty cool, just that it's a full day of crap drivin to get out to western SD where the cool stuff is....

Enjoy KS... remember the cam... do you hunt WIHA's out there? We hunt both private and WIHA... they can be real good late season...

Last year we hunted one spot of walk in ground, the rest was all on a private farm. We went with a guy that had been going out there for 30 years, this year we are going back to the same farm. It's amazing how far in hospitality a few jokes and a case of beer and some good ol IL deer sausage can go! This year he is getting rainbow trout too!

This guy doesn't care, just take him with ya when he has time to go. We also helped him build a fence which may have earned us some points. I'll defeintely be taking my camera with me this year (now that I have one).

One thing I learned real Quick is do not speak the word Jayhawk in Nebraska. Thanks Birdhunter on the gas cost. Gives me a glimmer of hope. Do know football if you want to start up a conversation.

Next weekend me and a couple of my hunting buddies are taking our wives on a wine trip to God's Country, Southern Illinois. Making several stopped at the wineries down there and staying in Marion over night. It is one of those things you do with the wife before hunting season.

After that a couple trips with some friends I met on www.waterfowler.com to Wisconsin for dark goose hunting. They have the geese southern Illinois once had. Their season started earlier this month and they are already killing the big boys.

Then our annual deer trip to Union Co for gun season. That is a six day trip with my bud's we have made for 25 plus years. We stay at a local conservation officers place in Murphysboro so we have to behave ourselves..

Dave we used to not, but we are to old to misbehave. Most exciting thing we do is make one trip to the Duck Inn and see all the folks for our once a year trip. Years past we were in there every night, and make it to the camp just in time to hunt...:p :p
I still think there are a couple of youngens around there that look like you........:D :D I know you made some stops in there and I don't know how long you may have stayed...

Donna is always asking about that big Detective from our way and how he's doing... ;) ;)

ISP I highly recommend checking Daves thread on the eateries around this part of Illinois. There is one in Alto Pass just a mile or so off of highway 127 that women seem to enjoy alot, the Peachbarn Cafe/Hedman Orchards.
