Has anyone else been out to see these guys on Crab Orchard?

Apparently, they stop here on their migratory route south and only stay for a week or two. My father-in-law took me out on Crab this morning to take some pics and fish and we saw so many of them. Altogether there at least 500 birds - no wonder the fishing wasn't any good today!

All over Carlyle North end anyway, talked to a fella the other day at the ramp and he was telling us that they have come in early and have staid longer than usual, I don't know, but they are really neat to watch we had that one following the boat the other day would swim by and look around to see what we were catching I guess, LOL.

We saw one along the river below the spillway at Carlyle this spring. It was fishing close to us. Too bad the camera was in the truck then. :(

Those are some beautiful pics. I like #3 best too, but the others are real good too.

Great pics!
Those guys stop up here in March. There is a big backwater on the very end of the Kankakee right where the Illinois river starts they like to stay in. Only differance is the ones that stop here have a big knob on the top of their beaks. I think they winter near Ft. Meyers Fla., and spend the summer somewhere in colorado.

I just couldn't believe how many there were! The other night, we were on the bridge at Wolf Creek and saw over 200 heading west to roost for the night. Here's a couple more pics I took today:

Even though they must eat sooo much fish, I still like them so much more than those dang cormorants.

Chy these are just awesome!!! Guess where we are going tomorrow??? LOL
Critter decided to take the whole weekend off!!! and said last night we could do "whatever you want to do" and I he will enjoy these as well.
There are always thousands of them at Alton usually around Valentine's Day. That's always my Valentines treat..a trip to ALton to shoot Eagles, Pelicans, swans etc..and visit Pere Marquette.
