I didn't have too go far to get some farmin' pictures. Just stood out in the yard. :D
Most of our yard is farm field. I find this immensely amusing. I play in the corn and tend it a bit. Last year we had a bad hail storm come through and I think the damage it did to the corn bothered me more than it bothered the farmer.
This year I planted carp single file between the first couple rows. That corn grew to more than 10 and a half feet tall. :p
Anyhow, I'm a big goofus when it comes to being entertained by corn and corn growing. I'm always asking questions. Why is it so tall? Why are the ears hanging down this year? How many bushels will it yeild? What's with the corn smut? etc... etc.. etc...
The guy who farms the property is the head of the IL Corn Growers so he politely answers all my questions and even lets me ride in the combine. (you don't know how big of a thrill that was for me.. Yes, I'm a dork) He also looks just like Jeff Foxworthy.
sooo.. after all that useless info. Here are some pictures from yesterday when he came and cut the corn. (He left three rows up along the two sides of the yard for me)
The combine along the edge of the yard. I thought the flowers gave it an interesting touch.
