YEA BABY!!! bring on the rain and some cool weather & we'll be swimmin' in HUNKYS!" that was what the guy that first showed me these and cooked some for me used to call them, I trusted him alot to sit down and eat a wild fungi that we picked in the woods, I did let him take the first bite though, lol

I'm like you..I've a bunch of logs and stumps to check if it ever does..we'll oysters, puffballs, hedgehogs ...lion and tiegrs and bears OH MY!
But remember..Dave has to inspect them first..homeland security...and Life..we have to share with Life..cause I bet Mrs. Life would be tickled to have a big old pile of fresh shooms to work with!
Maybe we should have a SILO mushroom hunt/gathering...should it ever rain again....

You are so sweet Gretchen. Yes, Mrs. Life also loves mushrooms. She wants to go mushroom hunting sometime. She's constantly telling me about hunting mushrooms with her dad in Korea when she was a youngun.

That does sound like fun. And hearing about Korean 'shrooms would be cool as well. It makes me wonder how different the fungi is there. I'd think it was pretty similar, but you nevr know. :)

I had it a little wrong. (What's so unusual about that?) My wife didn't hut shrooms with her dad, but her dad was an avid shroomer and my wife has always been an avid shroom eater. She did, however, go hunting herbs and other wild plants in the mountains with her mom for eating. She still uses some of the wild plants growing around here for cooking. So far we've eaten plantain (not the banana type), wild onions and lamb's quarters that I can think of now.

Oh, and Gretchen when I mentioned to her that you were thinking about a group of us hunting shrooms together, she thought I meant right away. She wanted to know when cause yeah, she wants to go.

Life...if we could just a get a couple of good rainy days..that might stir up the fall flush...if we get a fall flush...I'll be sure to let you know and maybe we can work out some kind of hunt even if it's just me and you two! I would be really tickled to show your wife some our fall shrooms.
I just hope we have shrooms this fall! We could compare notes on the edible and medicinal plants too!

I used to plan my vaction time around morel season...and at the one trucking company I worked for..we always shut down for three days during morel season..cause no body would come to work!

Bob..do your rain dance..and hopefully by Thursday we have a flush started!

Bam...we'll just have to see if and when it rains..and if and when they start to flush...if I could predict them...I'd be wealthy woman! LOL Looks like maybe next Saturday IF it rains and IF they start coming out in numbers..need to check last years shots and see what the dates were...

checked..last years were starting to flush on 9/27 ..the first batches of popcorn puffballs...
