Finally got Bam up hre to God's Country...
Started in Chester..ran across the bridge so I could show her Horse Island Chute, where the eagles hang out in the winter, and where the cheap gas is ! :D

From there we went up the bluff road past Menard to the Pierre Menard Home and Fort Kaskaskia.

Lunch at Mary's in Ruma, then back to the Bluff Road and Modoc via St. Leo's Hill...as the view from the top of St. Leo's on Stamm Hollow Road is just stupendous...On to Rocher and then out to Fort Des Chartes ....

again we had to be satisfied with just peering in the windows. I was going to ask the fellas to open it up for us..but Bam didn't want to ask for special favors...From there we traveled back through Rocher up over Rocher hill and then to Evansville/Ellis Grove/Walsh so Bam could get some farming pics...

Critter had to show off and do a few donuts with the tractor and wagon, and the combine pretty much covered her in corn fluffies and dust! We then headed back to Chester up the blacktop from Walsh and quick trip through Randolph County Lake Conservation area, and back to Chester for one last drive along the river.

I suspect she thinks I drug her to he** and back....ROFL

All in all a very fun day out, right girls? (Yeah you're younger than me so I reckon I can say "girls" without ticking you off too much...I hope.)

Where's this Horse Island Chute? I know the gas here is cheaper than most of Illinois, but it's still more than it shouldoughtabe.

No, I had a really good time, just felt like I drove through a time warp though!I think it was right there at the Murphy turn....lmao.....So much historical stuff and things left untouched. It's really neat up around there. Seems like lots of good folks that are close knit..

Horse Island Chute is a slough just after you cross the bridge at Chester going towards Missouri..you feel like you are still pretty much on the bridge approach.
