The last time I was at Baldwin Lake they had a 40 or 50 horse power limit I cant remember which but my uncle said he has used a 150 horse motor in the lake and also seen other people using larger motors there to. So I was wondering if it was true or not if you can use larger motors than 40 or 50 horse for more then just loading and unloading.

Nope, the larger outboards aren't allowed there. That's why we never take our boat there.
People do it... some get caught, some don't
I saw a guy get seriously harassed there because he had a boat on the water with a large motor. I wouldn't try it unless you're asking for trouble.

ya'll just took the words right out of my mouth....
Its 50.:( .................
They watch Baldwin REAL close. I saw 'em get a guy down there on day who went across the buoys in the warm water discharge. They were waiting for him at the ramp. I wouldn't risk anything illegal there. More than once they have checked my livewell there when I pulled the boat out.

Joe is right, Baldwin is probably the one of the most heavily patrolled around here. They even stop me at times and caution me about getting too close to the geese etc when I'm shooting up at the far end by the waterfowl rest areas...luckily I have friend who works for DNR there.....
I will say though, they are pleasant and not hateful about anything, and will often times give me a heads up about what creatures are moving and hanging around where...
Hmm. come down here and week and you see how LOE is..lol...that's why my dad is so stuck on Crab.
They kinda know us now from going out all the time , but I wouldn't go 36mph in a 35......lol....
Gretchen those are the guys I was talking to up at Triple E...in the blue next to us.....

What are the limits on other lakes in SIL that you all know of? I am getting a boat real soon so this is something to keep in mind.
Peabody River King is either 10 HP or troller only... Same W/ Devils Kitchen... and Pyramid SP.
Little Grassy, devils' kitchen, Cedar, Marion City, Old Herrin, are all 10hp...The new Herrin there are no motors allowed
Lake of Egypt, Crab, Kinkaid and Rend don't have any that I know of.....Correct me if Im wrong.....
