High, I haven't been there for a week, because of teal season, but last time I was there had them up and close to the rocks and near the clay banks. Is it still the same? I am going to give the teal thing another day then put the gun away and grab the rod and reels. I was mainly on the south end of the lake, but I hear they are at the northend too, near the tressels and the islands.

I just post a few pics, but yes they are on the South end but I really they are all over. Today I was up the Hazlet and they are still on the rocks. I will be going back on the morning..

Thanks High, may see you over there, they have been on the rocks for a month, a lot earlier than normal. Nice pixs.

Every time we went to Carlyle the water got too rough for fishing. We're a bit busy for fishing now, but those pics make me want to put off the stuff we gotta get done and go do some white bass fishing.

excellent! I remember those days, been a long time since i fished for whites at carlyle. love eatin' white bass too, ya just gotta get the red meat out, one guy I used to go with was lightning fast cleaning those whites, we always had 60 -100 everytime we went.

hey Life, check the forcasted wind direction before you go and pick the closest ramp on the upwind side of the lake, you should be able to catch them just about anywhere in the lake right now, look for the boats and be courteous! most people don't mind sharing a school of fish if they're catching 'em and you approach slow.

Good to see you back HC...

And as usual... the rod well bent... LOL

Problem we had is I'm only off every other weekend, and those weekends were windy weekends. The boat would handle the waves (2+ foot swells) as long as you were either bow or transom to the waves, but you sure didn't want to get sideways to them. Way too rough for fishing, and that was the whole lake. Those weekends we just went out and rode around on the lake.

Oh my..looks like you had a great day! And I really thought the young man at the DQ was telling tall tales about catch ..."tons" of them today at Carlyle...looks like he probably was catching them left and right...I think he said they were trolling...

I was at Carlyle last saturday septemper 15th and caught 40 white bass on the rip rap infront of boulder camp grounds and around the rip rap close to the south shore boat ramps. I used small crank baits and white curly tail jigs. You had to get the bait right up against the rocks. If you caught one in a stop there would be a few more in that same spot. I caught 3 of the biggest in my life. Pretty good time.

Yep, just got back from there a bit ago our selves, was kinda hit and miss along the tracks most of the morning and then about 11ish on the 3rd hole from Keysport we got into a big mess of them for a solid 1 1/2 was strange too, they were all different sizes and came out of the rock to the middle of the bridge supports. Then got pretty windy so we drifted for some cats only pick up 1 28" long. and not many boats which was a shock, would have been a good day to put in at Boulder tho with the wind.

It was slow on the teal today, to much like summer, heading over to the Carlyle in the morning, haven't been there since teal season started. Will give an update tomorrow. But like High said they have been on the banks eating up the shad getting reserves for winter.
The last time over I caught these on the southend.

Went over this afternoon and caught some, not as many as before, but the ones I caught were all keepers. The whites are near the points and the rip-rap. The sizes range from 10-13 inches. Other guys fishing had success too, I think it would be better in the early morning, but I couldn't get over there till a little later today.

Pelicans there are cool, and like to swim by and see what ya got in the boat...LOL

Any who, the whites are still there in the rocks, the bigger ones were setting tight this a.m., until around 11ish, then we noticed the smaller ones were in shallow and tight, so we moved out off the rip/rap about 25' and started getting the bigger ones again se3veral over 14" one thing I don't think the color was a big deal today as we caught them on white, green, yellow, red/white etc. but the bigger ones where hitting the smaller 1/16th-1/8thoz jig with 3/4-1" tails better than the 1/4 and 3/8 the wife was using, didn't take long to switch.....any just passing along today's outing, and hoping they are still cooperating sat-sun.
the water bottle is a pint.
