Got mine last week Flat, timber is thick with under brush, but should be okay come a killing frost. Things look a little different now, compared to last December. See the deer have some nice paths running through the timber.

Picked up my tags last week and zeroed in those 55 grain broadheads to make sure they are on point. Yes that right 55 grain broadheads and last week I pickup that new Summit Climber 180 and its the boss stand. I climb a few times already and I luv it. Lots of room and lite to carry. I look forward to getting lots of good sleep out of it.

Highcountry archery makes that 55 grain broadhead. I've killed 6 deer in the last season with my highcountry bow shooting those 55 grain broadheads and all 6 were pass throughs.

I'm not ready yet, but will be scrambling at the last minute getting everything together the night before, I've killed several on opening day thru the years, even missed the biggest buck of my life on October 1st, 1994, a 160" buck, I still have nightmares about it, (huntrz=puke, when it comes to big bucks) I could tell story after story of the big ones that got away, I can visualize the misses better than the killz, but, hey, that's huntin'

I am no where near ready. I've been working 12 to 14 hr days for 6 and 7 day stints. So I haven't had any time to shoot, or get my stuff together. I've got 2 days off before the 1st so I'll scramble to get stuff in order and make it out. But the first hunt of the season is always a disaster. i forget stuff, drop stuff out of the stand, am late getting out, you name it. but after a few hunts its like a well oiled machine.

I ma pretty well ready. I went to the 3-D shoot at Freeburg on Sunday and was happy with my shooting. I am going to Townhall Archery tonight to do the techno hunt. That thing is a blast. I do however need to do a little more scouting on the public land I am going to be hunting. I also need to drive out to Bass Pro and pick up my new Summit Goliath. All in all, I am ready to fling some arrows!

Critter is no where near ready...as usual..he'll just gathe rup his stuff and throw it the tractor...LOL he doesn't approach it with the fervor that you guys do...he just carries the bow with him in the tractor..on the gator..and when he gets a chance...he doesn't usualy do a tree stand..he comes across enough running around the farm LOL

I'm not quite ready either. Still fletching some new wood arrows and need some more broadheads. I really like Grizzly two blades 'cayse they're so tuff, but I tried wensel woodsmen for hogs this spring and they do a number. Then there is always Ace Archery Tackle. Bob and Jan Mayo are some really fine people and they make some fine broadheads and points. (and they're from Illinois)

I am about ready. Got my bow out last night and shot pretty tight groups out to 30 yards. I'll shoot every evening from now until opener and then throughout the season to keep sharp.

Just purchased a Lone Wolf Alpha Sit and Climb. Threw it around a tree out back and was very happy with the way it climbed and packed. Think I'm gonna like it. I still need to pick up some camouflage, boots, and my archery tags.

I'm gonna have to rely on my spots from the past and some "in season" scouting this year. Haven't had much time to get out in the field and been real hot anyway. October 6-8 I'm hunting Sahara Woods in Saline county on a draw hunt. That should be interesting as they will not let you in to scout until your hunt dates. I took my vacation November 3-11 so I'm gonna give it hell somewhere that week too.

Best of luck to all of you all out there at SILO! Have a safe season!

Joe

Washing huntin' clothes as I type this. I have a new string on the bow, arrows made, broadheads sharpened, stands hung, found saw and pruners, tags and license in the wallet and the uneasy feeling that I'm still forgetting something. Oh well, I'll find out Monday morning as I walkin' in. LOL
