Well I went to American Appliance to check out the cameras they had advertised in the flier. They had a Sony 12X optical 6.0MP for $319; and Olympus 10X optical 7.1MP for $269; They also had a 10X Kodak, but without Image stabilization, I didn't even entertain it. I was poised to get either one, but when I got there they also had a Panasonic Lumix 12X optical; 6.3 MP for $299. After playing with them all I ended up getting the Panasonic. It was the most comfortable in my hand, has Leica lenses, and the menus seemed pretty intuative. Another pro for me personally is that it takes SD cards, which I have plenty of, while I would have had to get new stuff for the others. It doesn't take AA batteries though, some NiMH which is $50. Only bummer is they were out of stock, and I need to wait a few weeks to actually get it in my hand.
Has anybody actually had any use with any of these cameras, or other comperable cameras? I'd be interested in hearing other peoples reviews on using these for outdoor photography.
