Has anyone been out for sauger this year? I am thinking about trying this weekend below Carlyle if I can get time. The water level is down though so I am not sure how well they will be biting.

Sounds like fun, I was thinking of going down to Ky. Lake and doing some early snagging for a spoonbill or two...They say those Sauger really stack up this time of year behind the Smithland Dam on the Ohio River...

Was just there this afternoon... Def not much going on yet. And nobody there, other than deep water jiggers in boats. And the jiggers were not that busy.... The original channel is still frozen.

I was running the usual yellow/chartreuse jigs so don't know if that flies this early. I would suspect the temps need to rise and then it might go a little better. I kept expecting the close to 40 deg temps today that didn't arrive.

Several dead small whites and stripers (really small) on the rocks below the suspension bridge in the rocks. And I found several nice jig set-ups but not worth the cold fingers...
