I know I am probably butchering the name, but the new power plant being built... and I don't mean the Baldwin addition.... Prarie State Energy or??? whatever it is called, OK, enough with the lead up...here is the question...drum roll........ is that complex going to have a publicly accessible cooling reservoir like Baldwin, and....... if the fishing Gods are listening, wouldn't it be nice if they stocked it with only feeder shad, smallmouth bass and hybrid striper. Could you imagine how good it could be for at least a decade or so until natural stocking took over for the other species? I'm just sayin'

You may be able to find out or maybe find a contact here:

only hybrid and stripers? Doesn't seem like that would make for a healthy lake ecosystem...natural stocking? I'm not sure what you mean by that..
My guess is that it would be managed and stocked pretty much like the other power plant lakes.

I'll check with PSEC..but I'm not sure they are going to have a lake.. can't really remember but seems that the water is coming and going from the river?

Brian you have the name correct. No, they are not going to have a cooling reservoir like Baldwin. They have two enormous cooling tower buildings for this.

That's what I thought burning barrels.. I was pretty sure there wasn't a lake planned for that site.. but couldn't truly remember.. just knowing what the site looks like.. I couldn't see it... Thanks for clearing that up!

I was told there are two 40 acre cooling lakes

There is a lake onsite. It is close to 40 acres, however it is not for cooling purposes. The lake serves as a source of water for the power plant's fire suppression system. Water is pumped from the Kaskaskia River which aids in the cooling process as well as the (2) cooling towers.
