I do not check this forum often so bear with me. Yes, there absolutely are Pike and Muskie in multiple lakes at Pyramid. I am an avid Bass fisherman and have seen on multiple occasions large.... I mean Kincaid size Muskellunge at one lake in particular. I am no toothy critter fisherman so cannot differenciate between the species... but its all the same difference. We finally decided to go after some in the spring, tied on steel leaders, chunked large swimbaits at them. Little bro boated a small one, I would guess it to be a Tiger, just a runt compared to the accidental follows we have had over the years. We hooked one the spring before on a 1/2 War Eagle spinnerbait bass fishing,.... monster followed it to the boat and opened wide..... again my little brother... he did not stand a chance because he was still using that useless clinch not that I had been telling him for years to get away from.(You bet, he ties the Palomar now) Fish raised and shaked off violently at the boat, little bro was hot but I told him settle down man, we didn't even have a net, no way that fish could have been boated anyway, 12lb. bass line. I cannot maintain an interest in fishing for them though, just too much casting and winding for me. I would like to share info on these lakes and any others in the area, I cannot find any good info on this area on the net, maybe this forum will be a little help. I used to live in Lincoln, County Missouri, just moved to Waterloo 2 yrs. ago, Pyramid and Baldwin were a large part in my decision for Waterloo.

So did your brother about have a heart attack when that muskie hit so close to the boat? I agree with you on the palomar knot. I still use an improved clinch in some situations where I can't use a palomar knot, but the palomar is far superior.

Brian - glad to see you utilize and enjoy Pyramid so much :) I am always amazed at how many people don't even know it exists or where it's at. It's one of my regular haunts :)

My brother said a little bit of pee came out...LOL... when the fish struck at the boat. I used to shy away from sharing info on lakes and places but I am no longer worried about "ruining" a spot from sharing it with people.
The only lake that I have seen a down turn in at Pyramid is Golden-Eye, but it may as well be just a natural downturn. Those lakes are good for that, just about every year there is a different "HOT" lake for the season, you just have to figure it out. Watch for the same trucks at the same lakes on multiple days/weekends, watch what species they are fishing for...
