I hear something, I think it a deer. Nope, that squeaky scratching sounds familiar.
The sound is from this direction.

Shooting him with a slug would be a waste. Hitting him with an arrow would be mighty fine shooting.
I've been having a few squirrels come right up near me while out hunting. One even stared into my blind from his perch on a tree for several minutes.

I had a little bugger about 5 yards in front of me yesterday morning. We were 18 ft up and he didn't know I was there until I reached for my phone to try and catch a pic. He was like, "UH OH!" He just sat there though and ate whatever it was that he had. Then I actually laughed out loud when he about fell off the limb a few minutes later. He helped me pass the time yesterday morning.
Between them and the little itty bitty birds that live in the weeds.... argh!

Monday I plan on going out with the .22 and going at the squirrels, we had a few grays that were well fed around our stands this morning. After hunting I'll do some shooting with my .308 to get it zeroed at 200 yards (I need to test a loading and the scope was slightly adjusted).
It's amazing how loud something that doesn't even weigh a pound can be when it's directly behind your tree stand. :D
Have um for breakast with brown gravy made from the drippings...:)

They do make a lot of noise for their size. I've been tempted to shoot a few with the bow while out deer hunting, but didn't want to ruin my arrows by shooting them at trees. I wouldn't want to shoot one with a slug though. You wouldn't have any meat, and you'd scare every deer off that might be in the area.
Cool pics.
The are just everywhere in the woods I hunt in.

My cousin always takes what he calls "his worn out arrows" with him to shoot tree rats with. Every season he kills two or three with a bow.
I thought one was going to jump on me Saturday, freaked out when I moved my hand :)
