I was driving past a field in Orland Park when I thought I saw a deer in the field. On second glance I knew it was some sort of canine. It was much too large to be a coyote and I have never seen a companion dog in that color. So I perused the animal (with my camera). I still could not tell what kind of animal it was from that distance. In my pictures that I'll post if you want the animal is a dot and hard to distinguish from the back around. So I didn't get very close when the animal stood up and ran off. Coyotes in my area DO NOT run away they are bold mean little bastards who stare you down (I have never been foolish enough to not take the warning). So by now I am convinced this is a wolf its huge and scared of humans. It was running around the field then toward the street. I went back to my car praying for the chance to see what it was before it ran across the street into lots of cover when I got hit by a red light and the animal was spooked by the cars so it just stood at the edge of the field. I was so excited I got my camera ready and.... it was a coyote. Not a huge one a regular sized coyote with alot of fur just around his neck. I did snap a picture as well but still that close it wasn't great. So the moral of this story at a distance appearances can be deceiving!

You had me going there.. I was headed off to research wolf sightings in Orland Park !
Seems that the yotes are getting larger, healthier and more aggressive every year that goes by...

BTW I had similar scenario unfold with what I could have sworn was bear one day.. only to discover after getting closer - big dark yote! But really - he loped like bear!!! LOL

I would love to see the photo! The yotes here usually run when they see a truck stop.

That's cause there is most often a hollow point just after the truck stops...

"That's cause there is most often a hollow point just after the truck stops."
Not in Orland Park, which is why they are "bold mean little bastards who stare you down."
