Pere Marquette will be hosting a free program on Saturday October 30th on Forest Foraging.
The program begins at 0930 and is slated to run until 1230. Admission is free.
The program will start off with a brief discussion of edible wild plants in IL, then participants will join DNR employee Scott Isringhausen for a hike through the park identifying and looking for the many plants and wild foods available in the forest. Upon returning participants will be invited to sample some of the wild treats they learned about.

Yup- I'm volunteering there for this - my contribution to the wild menu will be things made with autumn olive berries :)

Hope to see some familiar SILO faces there :)

Looks like I'll be off then. Thanks for the heads up Gretchen. That sounds interesting.

Will there be any talk of edible fungi as well as flora? I'm always up for trying different foods.

No I don't think so - We talked briefly about maybe doing a seperate edible fungi program.

Sounds more interesting than going to Massac again... but I think we are already obligated to going there, and Paducah..... :(
