finally got around to setting up my new tent.it is a winchester model 97 tent.(no longer made)let me tell you,it was an ordeal.no instructions were included.it looks just like a cabelas alaskan guide tent,so i went to their website and the instruction was perfect for this tent.it was a bear to put up by yourself.i had to get a shop broom and crawl inside the tent and push it up,then stand the broom in the center to hold it up so that i could get the poles secured.once i got it free standing,it was much easier.im going to have to leave extra early when i come up to hunt so i can get camp setup before dark.the tent seems heavy duty and should last if i take care of it.

Cool. Did you take any pictures ?
COOL. I've been looking for a base camp style tent recently. Sold the camper, so I need to sleep in something...

I stick to my dome tent style anymore much easier to put up!- we have several in varying sizes from the one that goes the bike and for back packing - to a big old monster that sleeps ten snugly- 8 not so snugly ;)
im almost ashamed to admit that i dont know how to post pictures.if someone wants to pm there cell number to me,i could send a picture via phone.it is a dome tent, but its hexagonal with about 6 long poles that have to be put on.it also has a full coverage rain fly.i did discover a dime sized hole in the floor that i will need to patch.i bought it off ebay 4 months ago,so sending it back is out of the question.

The hole in the floor should be easy to patch. I don't think there is a way of posting pictures here directly from a phone. Gretchen just put up instructions with video a couple days ago for posting from a PC.

Life - I don't really know for sure how to do it from a cell phone - each smart phone works in a little different way...and it's a little different process from each...

My phone isn't that smart. I can surf some of the smaller sites, but when I try logging on here it reboots the browser. I reckon some off the fancy ones might be able to do it. I have sent pictures to FaceBook using my cell phone, then just linked to them on SILO.
Rab1, I hear you on tents. We've got one of the newer easy to set up tents, but we've also got an old canvas cabin tent with the external aluminum poles. The instructions disappeared over a decade ago and to make matters more complicated there are a couple extra poles so when I used to set it up I'd have to take a while just to figure out which poles went where.

Two words - Duct Tape! Always carry a roll camping. If it can't be fixed with Duct Tape, it can't be fixed!
ive left the tent up to air out and stretch.i had 2 leftover peices that i figured out was a nice heavy duty inside floor liner and the the other is a tent divider/privacy curtain that i will never use.thinking about getting a 12x14 tarp to go under it to save wear and tear on the bottom of the tent.the fly has has 9 guy-outs on it,plus the one to pull the vestibule out over the door.if the weather gets to the point that i need all those guy-outs staked down,im going to look for a motel.
