I know I know...I should actually fish for something else once in awhile...but catfishing keeps me from missing my Dad... Joe 09-04-2007, 20:52 If you want to find a topomap of the area before the lake was impounded then contact the US Geological Survey. See if they have an early rendition of that 1:24,000 USGS map for sale. I'm pretty sure that is where the "Hotspots Maps" manufacturer gets their topographic lines though so you'd probably be better off just purchasing one of those. Joe rdneibch 09-04-2007, 23:29 thanks guys.after i posted i deciced since part of it was shawnee forest i'd call the forestry service.the way i understand it they have a topo of the area before it was a lake.it is on 2 sheets for $6 each.i would say i will just need to find out the lake level and outline that contour with a marker. i got them ordered. i'll post up when i get them in case anyone is interested. years ago i got one of rend lake like that from the corp of engineers.it makes a pretty detailed map. thanks again. lifestudent55 09-05-2007, 08:00 That sounds like a good way to go. That way you have a real good idea what's under the lake. gretchensteele 09-05-2007, 08:05 That's one thing about the drought and the little lakes and ponds all dropping so far.....now we know with certainity whats under some of that water....it's pitiful at some of the old little hike in ponds at Pyramid...they are essentially gone... rdneibch 09-18-2007, 15:45 i got my maps today.JUNK! it has the lake already outlined and printed in blue.it also has all the topo elevations but just around the lake. not in the lake. a waste of $12.i will call the usgs now. gretchensteele 09-18-2007, 17:33 OH what a dissappointment.. |
