im planning on camping during gun season this year.my only concern is leaving my camp unattended while im hunting.99.9 percent of the hunters i know are honest people, but, there are so many that come into this area to hunt from all over the usa.i guess i could put up a trail camera and leave a note reminding them to smile for their portrait.has anyone had any problems camping during deer season?

there are some pretty heavy duty containers that you can buy that you can lock and with a chain lock to a tree if thats a worry. and they are not that expensive.

In all the years that I've camped throughout southern IL and Shawnee, from campgrounds to walk ins to just landing back in the woods I've never had a problem. I truly think you'll probably be safe. Will you be camping in a designated campground or just finding a likely looking spot and landing?
it is hit and miss, i have never had a problem but some buddies of mine have, nothing taken from camp site but their trucks broken into while hunting.

You should be fine. I've never a problem. Just always remember to only take items its ok to lose. Your hunting equipment will be with you, so it will be safe.
i will just be picking a spot.thanks for the replys.there are a few houses nearby.im just going to go camp and have a good time and not be paranoid about my gear winding up in a pawn shop.
