Do you guys who regularly chase crappie ever fish for them in Sept. or Oct.? I'm one of those people who only fish for them in the spring, because they're easier to catch then. But I'd like to learn about the rest of the year. If you do fish regularly with sucess in the fall, where do you find them? I am NOT asking you for your favorite fishing spot, just things like how deep, in shade or sun, etc.

Thanks

I go down to KY lake around oct. and fish the tail waters below the dams and have a great time. caught my limit a few times. You can usually count on a couple nice smallies in there also. The cappie seem to be a little larger in the fall. I have more luck with live bait in the fall. Give it a go. There's less people on the water also.

I normally go around nov when its shotgun deer season because I don't shotgun hunt. Do pretty good though. I normally hit the sail boat harber and rend resort on the docks I fish rend lake though

I know a couple of guys who go up for this tournament, Crappie on the first weekend of October. If they are holding a tournament, they must be biting.

We conistently catch crappie in WI in September and October...probably even better than we do in spring.

we have always had pretty good luck in the late fall early winter with live bait and fishing deep. In january we always did good fishing on the high side of a channel. Fish the high side and slay the crappie, drop it off the edge of the channel and hammer the white bass, january was always with a jig.

Wow, thanks for all the replies, I'm going to have to try it. Now if I just had your GPS coordinates:D. Seriously, another question, about time of day. Seems like they bite in the morning and afternoon in the spring. What about in the fall?
Thanks

In large lakes, as the water cools they follow the shad migration up creeks.

it seems we always had better luck first thing in the morning, we would be at our spot before daybreak.

Have had a good 2 days. Early in the morning 8 to 10ft. deep with minnows. after 10am 10 to 13ft, all over by noon. Just as good of quality of fish as in the spring over brush piles..
