This may sound petty but hey If I operated like this all my customers would be gone. Me and my Bro worked together today and at lunch it was gettin hot so my Bro wanted to eat inside where it was cool so he said lets go inside to eat lunch, something I never do. I will not mention the name of the place ( MickeyDsz). Well anyway we go inside and get our "food" and sit down. My Bro says the other day he was at this other location and looked at the receipt and he said they charged him a "dine-in tax" . So we checked out our ticket and sure enough there was a added fee for dinning inside. It was $.25 but its still BS.. I know they have at least 100,000 people dine in there across the country, and that's probably a conservative estimate, thats $25,ooo they are jackin people for everyday. Well when I went to leave I couldn't bring myself to clear my own table . I feel for the added fee they should do it. That kinda stuff is just bad PR. Sorry but thats just me...
I agree with you man thats not right. If they are going to charge extra then they should have a sign saying they will before you buy your food. I guess there to imbarrest to do that. I think Mcdonalds doesnt compare to some of it's compeditors anymore. They rarely come out with new food items, they hardly ever give out coupons atleast in my area, and there breakfast prices and selection sucks.

I feel bad for their workers but I get sick of gettin treated like a biotch...They bank on people not wanting to be rude and not clean up after themselves but now they are taking advantage of peoples good nature...

Was it listed as a tax or just for dining in? If it was a tax it might have been the cities involved. Otherwise, it's time for writing some letters to McD's HQ and advising them that fining people for dining inside is bad PR, plus doing it without letting people know they are is probably illegal. If it isn't, it's still enough to get a lawyer interested in class action. Sure it won't get any money in any customers' pockets, but it'll get their attention and give them a whole lot of unwanted bad publicity.
We already went threw this me and my co-workers seen it about two months ago, one of the guys took his food and everything back up to the counter and told them if they were charging us to eat inside they can have it back. Then manager came out and sat with us for a few minutes explaining that that is thier way of keeping the books straight and stats on who dines in and who drive's thru, next time you look at the drive thru tickey it will say drive thru tax or if you get your food and leave its carry out tax. you are not getting taxed anything more then you would regularly. One of the guys also sent letter to the main hq and they said the same thing in the letter the manager told us in the local mcdonalds.
But yes we were pissed beyond being just mad till they explained it to us. We told them we were going to make sure no miners ever ate in a mcdonalds again, they didnt like the idea much and thats why the manager came out
DUDES!!! This is easy to beat... just ask for your meal to go every time, then go sit down and eat it...

They don't have the right to levee any form of tax inside or drive thru.. A local restaurant was being charged a "tax" by one of their suppliers . They got a lawyer and won some kinda class-action suit . They gave several thousand bucks to the local school when they won.

I hate to say it but it sounds like that guy was blowing smoke up...
The computer can keep track of it just fine w/o calling it a tax! Sorry but that just doesn't pass the smell test.
Easy enough to prove, and I guess he (the manager) did to your satisfaction.
If, for example, the local sales tax is 7% and your bill is $5 then your total tax should be 35 cents. If your total tax bill is more than that you're getting hosed.
Guess I can add that to the reasons I don't go to McD's
