On a side note we had a litter of 4 born near our house and we have been watching them come eat under the bird feeder, they are a hoot to watch. Now they have figured out how to climb to pole and can empty the sunflower feeder in a few hours so my wife has started putting WD40 on the pole, they keep trying to climb it but slide back to the bottom. :D

Good article. One of the points made in the article about the grays out competing the reds is something that has happen up here in N. centeral IL. When I was a kid hunting sqirrels, It was rare to see a gray. All you saw was reds. Now it's just the opposite.

Pretty neat. I have seen them dig up nuts just to bury them again. Now it makes sense.

Heavy that's interesting you brought that up - here the "in town" squirrels are all the greys, but the "woods" squirrels are primarily fox...

Up here in the extreme north east corner, we have predominately Gray Squirrels and Black Squirrels. The funny thing is, the Black Squirrels are ONLY found in the Black Neighborhoods up here. And the Grays will chase off the Blacks if they come around the feeders. Never knew Squirrels were prejudiced.

I shot fff black powder, Pyrodex, and 777 out of it. Surprisingly enough, the 777 did the best. If you're ever over to this side of the state I've got a half can of fff BP I'd give ya.
