I blew it on taking pics... but a fun time was had by all!!! There were 38 teams signed up. I fished w/ Roy and we weighed in our heaviest 30 to 16.16 lbs... came in 10th. The winning team had 27 lbs of fish in 30... that is dang close to a lb a fish!!! Biggest bluegill was 1.8 lb!

There was close to 500 lbs of fish brought back, and that cleaning crew did a great job! O and No kept the table full hauling buckets of fish to them. All fried up they were delish!

Highlight of the day was O catching a 2lb crappie!!! I never caught a 2lb crappie, and now my kid is 7 and has one.... I told him we might put it on the wall...;)

This event is always the 1st Sat. in June. Mark your calendars for next year!!!

I'd never heard of a bluegill tournament. Bluegills are my favorites for eating and for fishing action. Topping it off with a bluegill fry just makes for a perfect day.

Congratulations to your son for his 2 pound crappie.

I've heard of this tourny in Paderborn, but never have attended. I specifically remember that after the tourny, all the fish get fried up. Glad you were able to attend, sounds great.

I've got it in Outlook to remind me next time. Is there someplace we can get details on when and where to be because I think this is a tourney I could at least compete in.

Knotty Pines is on the Floraville Rd. Take off time was 0600, so we had to be there before that to sign up. It was $15 a guy ($30 a team) here is the google maps link...

Both people have to be a the tavern by 6am....you can fish any lake you wish, you just have to be back by noon....you weigh your 30 biggest bluegill....we pay out a place for every 6 entries and for biggest blue gill...then everyone helps clean the fish and we fry them up with, potatoes, onion rings, and sides........

Just an aside - I've been to many events at Knotty Pines - motorcycles..horseshoes...hot rods - you name it and the place is GREAT! Never a dull moment and super great customer service - We like it there :)
Oh and no, I don't think Critter or I are responsible for any of the current tire rubber that can be found on the road the front of the place LOL Maybe some last year..

Fished that years ago b-4 kids, seemed to always pop a cold one around 8am for some strange reason. Anyway, definitly a good time! Never get tired of catchin gills!
