A friend and I enjoyed the gills that were bedding at a nearby private lake. They were hitting the crickets and meal worms a little....but the rooster tail was just tearing them up. Not a single one we caught wasn't a keeper. Wish we had gotten out there earlier, we'd a caught more than the 14 we kept.

I'm a bass man at heart....guess cause my Dad was, but when the gills are hitting, and the tackle is light, it makes for a great night. Eating isn't too shabby either. ;)

Gills are sure fun to catch, glad you had a good evening.

I was wondering with the change in the weather if they were getting back on the beds....
They are such fun when that's going on. Great time to introduce a kid to fishing - they are bound to catch fish!

They were certainly on the beds on this lake. Zipped a rooster tail across those beds and got a fish nearly every cast. Mostly males, but did catch one female, which produced some eggs while I was filleting her. Hoping to get back Tuesday night and do it all over again.
