I work in the powerplant at SIU and every evening on the weekends that I work and often late at night on Thursday and Friday nights I here the Carbondale Fire Department tone out to 'Dumpster fire, Lewis park apartments.. time out XXXX......"

When I was on midnight shifts a few years ago I could set the clocks by the fire department toning out to a dumpster fire at (2 a.m.) Lewis Park, Pinch Penny Pub/Club Sin (used to be Carboz), another behind STIX. (2:30 a.m.) broken windows (at least 1 from this area) in the Towers (Neely, Schneider, Mae Smith) and Triads (Boomer, Allen or Wright) (2:30-3 am) The broken window reports would come in from Thompson Point and if any from Greek Row.
Not to mention someone would pull a fire alarm pull station at one of the towers at about 2:15 a.m.

Literally it was like clockwork every weekend. Not so bad the last year or so.

Forestry is a pretty good program, I had a buddy of mine went through it years ago then later a masters in Animal Science Food and Nutrition and now works for Michigan State University Ag Extension office in Jackson, MI.

What's your minor? Where do you work?

Are you going to look for a student job or outside of the University?

Does SIU have a wildlife management program? Are you wanting to do wildlife management or be a CPO? What year in school are you?

If you want to be a CPO double major in Administration of Justice (might be biased since that is what my BA degree is in). I am not sure if they have a minor in AJ or not but Mike Harbin would be the one to talk to at 453-6434, he is the advisor for the dept. and if in the program he arranges internships with several agencies including the IDNR. The one I was going to have fell through last minute, they weren't taking any interns that summer and didn't let it out till the last day before summer classes started.
I knew several guys wanting to go the CPO route when I was in the program and alot of them were either double majors in some sort of envirnomental science or were minors in an environmental science. One guy I went to school with is a CPO now, several are state police officers and one chick I knew is a Sec. of State police investigator.

If I can be of any help I work here on campus and can get about any phone number you need, just let me know.
