Anybody doing any good on bass yet at Crab Orchard, Kinkaid, or Egypt, just wondering. I have a trip down there soon and was wondering if you had any pointers.

I was wondering if anybody bass fishes in southern illinois? Surely somebody is on the water by now or are there just no bass being caught. I will be coming down soon and would like some info from locals about the lakes I will be visiting. I was down last year for four days and we only caught 5 keeper and about 15 little bass. I know these waters are better than that and I just want to make the most out of my trip. I only get to fish these waters once or twice a year. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Crab orchards still slow the clear lakes are doing best kincaid, l.o.e., little grassy the bass are still hanging on the main lake points. The lakes are still not warmed up enough for great bass fishing yet, use baits you can work a little slow jerkbaits, worms, jigs. We're still having cool nights and a lot of rain keeping the water temps down.

Since your the only one who reply, thanks, and might you have any suggestions for Big Cedar Lake as well? Thanks for any reponse.

Most of the lakes are still just a little cold for bass fishing to pick up. That may change later this week with the warmer temperatures.

Is the bass fishing any better down there yet? Have the lakes warmed up at all? I know Egpyt is a cooling lake so what about Crab and Kinkaid? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is usually pretty accurate, although it's a few days old now.

Thanks a lot. l.o.e. I'm still catching them on the points best but in the evening you can move back into the shallow grassy areas, crab has been good in the evening after a good sunny day, up shallow in the grass. fishing has been pretty good!

Is the fishing any good as of lately? I am coming down next week and was hoping for some tips. I heard the big tournament at Crab Orchard was pretty slow and there wasn't a whole lot of fish caught. Is this true? If anyone has any pointers for Crab, Kinkaid, or Egypt for bass please let me kinow. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I will be there from Wednesday through Sunday hoping to hook a big one. Thanks.

The fishing is great. I cought 16 this past saturday in the rain on Lake Egypt. I biggest was 3.4lbs. My best best went 9lbs. 3 on rattle trap. 1 on speedtrap. AND ALL THE REST ON TOP WATER. I had the best day this year so far and it rained all day. The harder it rain the more fish i cought.
OH YEA FROG TOGS SUCKS. DON'T BUY THEY DON'T WORK. We had 32 boats and 20 or more guys had frog togs and they all got wet....DON'T BUY...

Thanks HighCountry. Were you fishing the warmer end of the lake or the cooler end? You had a good day sounds like fun.

Finally got down for some bass fishing last week. We did pretty good. At Crab I got a 3 lb 5oz bass on a purple jig with purple pork. I also caught a 9 lb 8oz catfish on a jig. While fishing a spinnerbait I caught a 13.5 inch crappie. A guy in another boat caught a 6.5 lb bass. My partner got a couple of 2.5 lb bass. At Egypt we only got one keeper on a spinner, pretty slow. Kinkaid was a different story. We fished from 1pm to 7pm and caught around 30 bass. The biggest was 4lb 1 oz. I caught a 2lb and a 2.5 lb bass. All of them were on topwater and the more it rained the better the fishing. There were periods when we had fish going after our lures almost every cast. We had other big fish that just missed our baits. I was fishing aroung the area known as the "Boxcar". It was the best I've done in a while I have never fished that part of the lake. Thanks to everyone for all the tips and I hope you have some good fishing ahead.:)
