Last year, my brother and I started trying to catch muskies. We have each been to Kinkaid 5 times or so since last May, but to no avail. This year, we are both stepping it up. He just finished fishing a musky tourney this past weekend, but it didn't happen then either.
I feel pretty good about our chances this year. I'll put a picture of the first one on this thread whenever it happens.
They call em the fish of 10,000 casts for a reason... good luck. I wanna see that pic!
I hope you do, I want to see the photo too when you catch her.
Now is the best time they are attempting to spawn
any updates? Kinkaid should start to turn back on in Mid to late september till ice up if ice up happens... Watch for the water temps to drop into the 70s and it is game on!
If have you have any questions please let me know. Proper tackle and care is very important when it comes to musky fishing! take care of those fish, natural reproduction does not happen in IL so you are fishing for bought fish!
Also take Colby Simms out he can get you on a fish and make sure you know how to figure 8 correctly!
Good luck this fall!
Now is the best time they are attempting to spawn
Muskies are not bass they do not eat while they are spawning...you can catch them good pre and post but not during the spawn!
Good Luck!

I didn't catch any the few trips we made. My brother will be out there trying this weekend, but it is the wrong time of year for me now (bow season).
