i heard they are making the use of electric decoys illegal in arkansas. do you think they should keep them around, or should get rid of them in every state, in my case i hate them they ruin hunting if you cant get them down with your calling and regular floating decoys then i guess they dont want to or your no good but whats next make it legal to use electronic calls for ducks its stupid

This should be a good one...

I don't really think it makes a difference. Just adds movement to your spread. What's the big deal if they are battery operated or wind? Should flagging geese be outlawed?

Only thing I hate about em is carrying the heavy things through the timber to my spot.

for me i could go either way on what to do. i have used them some times and some time i dont use them. it is fun just to use the old call and get them. makes you feel good that you called them in your self with no help

This should be good! Man don't ya know that's like asking a Lady her age. You might ask in private but never in public! ;) LOL

About electronic calls, I have no oppinion one way or the other. It might be different if we were short on 'yotes or Geese, but I don't think that'll be a problem during my lifetime. At least not because of electronic call/decoys.

All "spinning wing decoys" both wind and eletric where outlawed in Ark last year.
I really could go either way also. If they are going to banned them it should be Nation wide. Because they do the most damage in the North on young 1st year birds. Maybe those birds would make it here if they where not beinng killed before they get here. They are not nearly as effective down here as they once where. Now I won't use on useless there is a remote control that I can turn it on and off from the boat.
I guess I would perfer not to use them because they are kinda a pain to keep in workin order. And it seems some wanna bes think if they have one out with there dozen Wal-mart bought decoys and a call that sounds like a kazoo they can shoot anything w/in 100 yards.

That guy is going to be there no matter what . With or without his robo duck. Maybe if they outlaw them some people will just quit.

well idk if you know where dry lake is but that place sux when you are coming back man they will call at dux and well when you are traveling by well just say keep your head down cause they will shoot at anything that is close enough and it dont matter if you are in front of them or not and there are new guys that sound like they are playing the trumpet i can understand if its a kid because he is just now learning but if your 25 years old and cant blow man you need to stay home and practice

I agree smoke some people just don't get it . Surely it's not my calling that flared them birds I sound great . It's all these other fools out here that don't know wth they are doing. Duck season is no time to get the call out and practice but people do it . If you hunt public land you should try through the week other wise you are joining the circus. Sometimes thats not bad on the days your a ring leader.

Some people don't understand that if they just put there call in there pocket they would kill more ducks. Even if you are the best caller in the world some days they just don't want to hear it or very little. Calling ducks is more about knowing what to call when and reading the birds many just don't get it. A couple of years back to 3/30 might thin a few of the topwaters out. I also like to hunt when it gets really cold and nasty out . Seems a little ice will do wonders to scary many of the wannbes back into bed.

o i can tell you that when the ice is out i can do anything i always fforget that i have glasses on and when we had that ice storm man i could just look everywhere it was great and when it gets crappy out there thats what seperates the men from the boys some people are just to (I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing) wussy to go out with some rain sleet ice and snow just do it its not if you kill anything its getting out there and getting your cold chills the night sky and the exzilerating sounds of wings and qauks in the night you know and the whole call thing its pathtic you know i practice anytime i have a call around when im bored i pick up the call i used to have a call around my computer haha

i agree with fowlbeahvior as well, seems like the nastiest days are the best ones. last season my brother and i tore up some honkers on a rainy day. im for mechanical decoys, if it helps me get birds them im for it.

i like the robo in a field on a rainy day. works awesome. over water you may as well sink it. gotta have a remote. those geese won't come anywhere near it. i agree snow and sleet will keep the greenhorns in bed. but just remember at some point we were all like them. didn't know much but thought we did when we were young. some young guys didn;t have the luxury of having our dads and grandpas show us how to get it right. now the retards that have been an idiot for 10 plus years need to have a piece of public ground set aside just for them. far far away from the rest of us. we have the desire to learn and get better every year but they don't. they go out a few weekends ayear shoot at anything no matter how high or how far and don't respect the other hunters around them. yankee good to have another pyramid hunter on here.
wether you like them or not you shouldn't want anything hunting related banned. the old give an inch and they'll take a mile comes to mind. certain anti groups will see this and feed off of it. then they will start to go after more and more. hunters need to stand up more for what we believe and what we love to do. just look at the pyramid land scam. alot of us stood up against this crap and call state officials and got wildlife and hunting groups into the mix and it looks more and more like they will use private land. a phone call can and a little pressure can go along way.

I am not that great of a caller, assuming the birds are working, I would just assume not call very much at all and let them do their thing.

Last year I did better on the blue bird days. However I am not scared one bit to get out on one of the filthy mcnasty days either.

Fowlbehavior, do you play softball in the belleville area?

Smokey Mc Pot
08-07-2007, 09:06
well to say that your not one of the best callers is al right because everytime someone judges themselves they always make it to hard of a judge so you being negitive towards yourselfif you thin your a good calller you have more confidence and you fell better about your calling so i think im the best in the world i know im not but hey whos saying im not when im out there jsut enjoying the great outdoors and i think i might join a calling compition one day

Yes, I do. Have to have something to keep me busy when there is nothing to shoot. I'm assuming you play also?

Dave brings up a great point which makes this a very hard point to argue. I personally don't like them, but I don't want to give the anti hunter wack jobs an inch. On the other hand live birds, e-callers, and punt guns use to be legal too. They where made illegal and we didn't lose other rights to hunt. This issue is brought up a lot on other sites and it goes on and on. Its a really tough call. For those of you that have not been North to Canada or Northern US to see how effective they are on birds that have not seen them before. Its almost to easy young bird fall out of the sky to robos in dry fields.

yes, mallard machiines work pretty good, i have hunted over them about 10 or so time and its seems 2 me that the ducks go towards like they would a mojo, if you were willing 2 spend the money i wud reccomend one, but its a load 2 drag around, not suitable for little potholes, but if you were hunting off private ground it is a plus
