View Full Version : Anybody fished Sardis Lake? sir harry otto 01-23-2010, 21:56 Going to sardis in Feb or March just thought I would ask if anyone has been down there and any info you may give me. scott 01-24-2010, 10:27 We fished sardis and enid 5 yrs. ago, both lakes have big waterlevel fluctuations so be prepared for that. The first two days there we fished sardis, mostly with bandit crankbaits bass fishing was fair 2-3 pounders but we caught some slab crappie for sure, sardis has a 12 inch limit on crappie 20 fish. Third day we went to enid which is right up the road the 2-3 pounders turned our arms into jelly. Both lakes are busy i'd say you'll be able to get some local info at the boat ramps, which are $3.00 a day. Dont forget in mississippi and alabama if your boats over 16 ft. you have to wear your vest while the big motors running and if its under 16 you have to wear one all the time. Sardis and enid are army corp lakes like wheeler and wilson that we fish a couple times a year, and are heavily patroled, i don't remember mississippi's alcohol rules but you don't want to get caught in alabama with beer in the boat zero tolerance. scott 01-24-2010, 10:40 http://www.siloutdoors.com/imagehosting/53184b5c764f81b6d.jpg DetectDave 01-25-2010, 05:53 SHO, we're headed to Lake Washington on the 2md week of March. You might be a lil ahead of things unless you're in the last week of February if you're looking fior crappie. You'll find some bigguns but the spawn seems to be right at the Feb/March break. I think Sardis and Grenada can be tough to fish if you get wind too. chap 01-25-2010, 06:50 Sir, I am heading down to Sardis, the week of April 17th, been going every year for the last 5 or 6. Just using minnows, mainly. Caught some by the dam, putting in at Engineers Point, caught some at Wyatt's Crossing in the stick ups. It CAN be pretty tricky, if the wind gets up. The guys I go with have been going down there for a long time, I am still learning....good luck... sir harry otto 01-27-2010, 18:11 Thanks for the info guys. Hope we aren't going too early too. But will have to see what the weather looks like the closer we get. Would you suggest moving it later a week or two or just wait and see? Haven't made reservations yet. Do you know what the bass limit is down there? Any good sights you may have for info? DetectDave 01-28-2010, 06:15 On Sardis Lake the daily creel limit for crappie is 20 per person. The minimum length limit for crappie is 12 inches. Anglers fishing Sardis Lake may use no more than 5 poles per person. The 12 inch length limit does not apply to the reservoir spillway, but the spillway, including Sardis Lower Lake, has a 20 crappie creel limit. Sardis ReservoirBass slot: 16-20 inches..must release Limit 7 per day, 3 over 20” This is a Corps of Engineer lake, so you will need a daily parking pass to launch at lake ramps. As stated watch the wind. Worst on this lake is a dead west wind Be careful when you go pass Holiday lodge a lot of stumps. http://home.mdwfp.com/Fisheries/info.aspx?id=269 http://www.recreation.gov/recAreaDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&recAreaId=154&agencyCode=130 sir harry otto 01-28-2010, 18:11 Thanks DDave for the info. Is alchohol banned on the lake? could not find that on the sights. What is fishing without a cold one? May have to try Enid if we don't do any good at sardis. DetectDave 01-29-2010, 05:52 Not that I can tell SHO. My fishing crew fished Sardis and Grenada for years and if it was NA, they wouldn't have been there..LOL sir harry otto 01-29-2010, 19:48 Thanks DDave. Hope to have a good time. Do you have any GPS locations that you could PM to me if you can it would be appreciated. May even be able to meet you at the rev and indulge in some adult beverages. sir harry otto 02-18-2010, 17:43 Have moved the date 1 week later to march 5 6 @7 for the time being. Will have to see what the weather brings. May have to move it later if the weather does not get any better and the rest of the crew can get the time off. Global warming is not happening at this time I am ready for some warm weather at this time since waterfowl season is over. |
