It was a busy day today! Members of the Bowfishing Assoc. of Illinois spent their Sat. at 2 events today, the Northern Illinois Conservation Clubs Youth Event and Bass Pro Shops Archery Weekend Event.
* For the second year we set up a bowfishing range for the kids at the Northern Illinois Conservation club`s youth event up in Antioch. Its always good to see the kids get excited about making a good shot. We didnt use the footballs for targets long though because the lake had so much weed in it you couldnt keep it off your line. So.....we brought out the big carp target to shoot. I think they liked that better anyhow. Set it up in the grass so it became a ........grass carp.....get it!!* *
Anyway, they also had hunter safty classes going on as well as BB gun ranges, shotgun ranges and regular archery. Lots of kids and their parents learned about bowfishing today!

Our new Genisis bows outfitted with retriever pro reels worked great.

Here are some pics from the Bass Pro Event. Lots of people learned about bowfishing there and the club got a few more members .

Big thanks goes out to Evan, Jon and Brad for manning the booth and archery range at Bass Pro`s Archery Weekend event! Got lots of interest in bowfishing and the club from visitors. Its always a good event with our friends at BP. Brad did the club proud by doing his first solo seminar . We played Sams Bigtime DVD exclusively today, and it got lots of interest.

Where did you hold this event? It looks ilke the kids had a great time, although it also looked like for some of them it wasn't the first time they'd ever used a bow (like the overhead stance). It's great that Bass Pro is putting on events like this.

It was up in Antioch. Yea.....some of the kids really knew how to shoot. The one in the pic brought his own release. But what was cool was seeing a kid who never shot before hitting his last few shots after getting used to the bow.

The Southern Chapter is lookin forward to holding some youth events next year. With the southern chapter only being around for a few months now, we are coming up with some ideas for next year to get interest and for the offseason as in booths at local shows and such.

If anyone is interest in joining the Southern Chapter of the Bowfishing Assos. of Illinois feel free to get ahold of me. Its completely free and fun for the whole family...
