well ok then, its hot and I hate it, (hard on a fat guy) Just usually get into some nice 11-12" red ear and big Bulls at Little Ramsey Lake over this way, but not this year, guess it is the major lack of rain, crappie are not doing very good either over here, usually you can catch your limit in an hour, they are not huge fish by any means but the limit is only 9" over here and they are nice fat fish with a good fillet. I'm always ready to give it a shot, think were gonna go trolling tonight at Coffeen for a striper or two.

hybrids? trolling for hybrids used to be my specialty. where is ramsey lake? i know what might work on those crappie, especially this time of year! wish I had more time to fish, my weekends are short.

Yea the Hy's and on Coffeen or we go up to Sangchris, or over to Forbes. Been hittt'n big cranks last few weeks at Coffeen Lake about 22'-35' on the main channel. Ramsey lake is just north of Ramsey (LOL) on Route 51 north of Vandalia about 20 miles, just a small state park lake 60 acres electric only but nice Fishing, and good hunting I think they are up to 1600 acres on the hunting ground. But we like it for the crappie and gills, has nice cat also, saugeye, Some nice Bass, Ramsey Lake State Park on the DNR site. Maybe some day we'll meet at Coffeen for some striper or cat... after the heat wave breaks off a bit.

Hey, I'd like some of that action too. There's nothing like a slab sided sunfish on ultralight tackle to get your blood pumping.

They (the Bluegills)are out of whack here too, thankfully can catch the small ones still for catfish bait. But no big ones this year at all. Usually there are a couple ponds here that can give a person a couple fat 10-11" 'gills most all summer. Wonder whats up?

The last few years myself and friends trek north to Wis. for Bluegill fishing and do very good. But, after reading a few of these posts it sounds like we've been having the old "Grass Is Greener" syndrome.

I will watch the moon phase and plan a trip to southern ILL. this spring.

Do any of you use Float Tubes ? Do to prodding from a fishing friend I bought one last spring and was reluctant to use it until late summer. Wow, what a blast. I couldn't get out in it enough.

See you in the spring Schoe
