this is one of our powerline plots, I know the top field looks like a manicured lawn but it is actually a fresh mowed Whitetail Clover and Tecomate Chicory plot, the bottom part is a fresh mowed section, we mowed that Sunday, sprayed CLearOut on it Wednesday, and as soon as it's ready we will disk and plant Buck Forage Oats with some Ladino Clover mixed in. Our tractor is 50 years old this year, a 1957 Ford Powermaster 950, still a great tractor, we replaced the narrow front end a few years ago with this wider front end. it beats the heck out of the way we started doing foodplots back in '86, we hand raked every spot, lot of work, lot ticks, lot of chiggers. back then the one plant we had luck with that could compete with the weeds was Lathco Flat Pea, it lasted for years, the power company even came thru and sterilized the ground and it still came back, I think there may still be some growing around the edges. back then there weren't the commercial food plot seeds available like nowadays, we planted, clover, flat pea, delar small burnett, birds foot trefoil and rape. should of kept at it, could have been another Ray Scott, lol

I was just teasin......I just loved these shots...And I guess this is in Williamson, if not Williamson then Johnson, It is the very back side of the lake , where Lake of Egypt runs into Shawnee National Forest.......I don't know where the line is there? Maybe he's standing on the line, Idk. lol.
funny that first pic is a dead ringer for our powerline, 'course ya seen one powerline ya seen 'em all!
I know, when I seen that I was like OMG, Huntrz is out back! lol.Just kidding...No it reminded me of that picture, we went shroom hunting that day down at Shawnee.....and walked and walked and ended up there....Of course then I had to snap some shots.......the water in the last pic is actually LOE. It meets right up to Shawnee...But it took us a while to get where we were by foot.....
here's a view from the bottom of the powerlines looking back East, that Ladino Clover in the foreground looks pretty darn healthy considering how dry it has been in that part of (UNKNOWN COUNTY), but it risks flooding there if we get to much rain.
